I’ve been working with wood for as long as I can remember – scout projects and tree forts, high school theatre, to a decade working in scene shops across the country. Then I shifted to graphic design, creating brand packaging and print work – all the while spending time in the wood shop on home projects and work for friends.

I recently completed the Online Mastery Program at The Northwest Woodworking Studio under Gary Rogowski, and many pieces in my portfolio came out of that two-year intensive.

Now I spend more of my time pondering, it’s really what I was made for. A lot of that is done in my shop. It simply makes me happy to be creating – to putter, kick around some ideas. It’s a good process that sometimes requires another cup of coffee or a walk along the beach.

As for the name, Pinecone Moon comes from the view east of my shop, where the full moon rises through the Douglas firs. The waxing moon and seed-casting cones remind me to trust the process—they put me in the right headspace.
